Maastricht is #posifiets
Summer is in the air! With longer days and sunny weather, there’s no better time to get on your bike. Cycle leisurely through the fresh air, feel the sun on your face and enjoy the freedom of the open road. Whether you’re popping out for a quick ride or heading a bit further afield, every kilometre feels like a mini-break.
The city is buzzing with life again: sunny days, packed terraces and long summer evenings make it even more enjoyable to get out and about. On a bike, you can get anywhere in no time, whilst enjoying the fresh air and keeping active. A quick trip to the shops, grabbing a drink on a terrace or a leisurely ride along the Maas. Every bike ride gives you that real summer feeling.
Get your bike ready for the good weather. Check your tyres and brakes and make sure your lights are working properly. Being clearly visible is important in summer too, especially on long evenings or during an unexpected summer shower. That way, you can set off safely and relaxed.
Also, please park your bike neatly in a rack or bay, so that pavements and walking routes remain accessible to everyone — including people with a walking frame, pushchair or wheelchair. Together, we can keep Maastricht safe, accessible and welcoming during the summer months.
In Maastricht: park safely and save money
Cycling gets you to your destination quickly, and parking is easy. You can park your bike for free at the Markt, under the Vrijthof, at the Kesselskade, or the central station – the first 24 hours are free. A nice bonus: you’ve already earned back your first coffee. Just popping out for some groceries? You'll find dozens of bike racks and parking spots throughout the city. Check out all the racks in Maastricht.

Thank you #posicyclists
By cycling, you help keep the city accessible, clean, and pleasant. Please keep the sidewalks clear for pedestrians – some are pushing strollers, using a white cane, or getting around in a wheelchair. Enjoy the breeze on your face and put your phone away for a moment. Are the shops open? Then walking is often the better choice. Together, we make sure everyone can enjoy the city center. That’s what we call #posifiets!
