#Posifiets during the introduction weeks in Maastricht
From Monday 19 August until early September, Maastricht will welcome thousands of new students during the INKOM and various faculty introduction weeks. This means extra liveliness in the city – and lots of new bicycles. To ensure that the city remains safe and accessible for everyone, #posifiets will again be active this year with various measures and campaigns.
- Welcome to Maastricht Market (19 August)
Together with the municipality of Maastricht, the bicycle theft prevention team and partners such as Stichting Samen Onbeperkt, we let students experience how important bicycle parking is for accessibility in the city. With an obstacle run, VR experience and practical tips, we made them aware of the impact of incorrectly parked bicycles.![]()
- Bicycle theft prevention
The bicycle theft prevention team provided advice on the spot about the use of a sturdy chain lock through the frame and front wheel. In collaboration with a former bicycle thief, we demonstrated how quickly an improperly locked bicycle can disappear.- Attendance at faculty events Maastricht University, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, and Swapfiets days
We distribute the Welcome to Maastricht brochure and provide practical tips, recruit followers, and distribute goodies during introductory activities and on days when many new bicycles are picked up at Swapfiets.- Targeted online campaign
Through social media, we reach new students who are in Maastricht during the introduction weeks, ensuring that the message remains visible even after these weeks have ended. With this approach, we aim to encourage positive bicycle use from the start of the academic year and maintain accessible passageways for everyone.
Good for you, good for others: together we make Maastricht #posifiets.
