An interactive introduction to cycling in the city
During the introduction days for international students at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, students recently got to experience cycling in the Netherlands in a unique way: through a VR experience that gave them a near-real-life sense of what it’s like when pedestrians, cyclists and cars narrowly avoid each other. It was both thrilling and educational.
The VR experience is one of the ways in which we raise awareness of safe cycling and proper bicycle parking in the city. Students were given practical tips on traffic situations, how to park their bikes correctly and how to avoid fines.
In addition to the VR experience, we also offer other interactive activities, such as an obstacle course, information materials and short awareness sessions on cycling rules and bicycle parking.
These activities can be used during orientation days, events or initiatives organised by student societies, faculties, educational institutions and community groups that wish to focus on safe and enjoyable cycling in the city. In this way, together we can make cycling in Maastricht even safer and more organised.
