By bus to and in Maastricht

Arriva provides the public bus transport in Limburg and makes sure that you travel comfortably from, to, and in Maastricht. There are bus stations located near to your final destination where you can disembark. The buses from De Lijn and TEC can also be used to travel to and from Belgium

Maastricht city bus

You can catch the bus from anywhere in the region to travel quickly and easily to the city centre of Maastricht. View the map for more information. You pay with the OV-chipkaart, check in and out with OVpay using your debit card, credit card or phone, travel with the glimble app, or buy a ticket from the driver. A maximum of two children aged 4 to 11 travel for free after 9:00 AM per paid ticket.

Please note: always check the websites of NS and Arriva to know the departure time of your last train and to ensure you are aware of any delays or replacement transport. On the transport operators’ websites, you will also find the current fares.

  • The regional bus connections have been coordinated as effectively as possible so that you can travel to many destinations easily by public transport. You can pay using your public transport pass (‘OV-chipkaart') or purchase your ticket directly from the driver.

  • You can also travel around the Euregio easily by bus.

    • Travel from Maastricht to Aachen by bus with Arriva's bus 350. Tickets can be purchased on the bus, or you can pay with your public transport pass (‘OV-chipkaart').
    • Travel from Maastricht to Hasselt in Belgium (via Genk or directly), Tongeren, and Eisden (in Belgium) with De Lijn. You can purchase a ticket from the driver or in advance purchase on the De Lijn website.
    • Travel from Maastricht to Liège with TEC. You can purchase a ticket from the driver.
    • Arriva's ‘Euregioticket’ is a convenient way of travelling by bus or train through the Meuse-Rhine region – and it only costs €23.50 a day. You can purchase the ticket from the bus driver, at the machine at the station, from official Arriva or NS service points, or available online in the Arriva webshop. A week or weekend ticket is available. At weekends and on German, Dutch, and Belgian public holidays, the Euregio ticket is valid for up to two adults and three children aged between four and eleven.
    • Direct bus to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol: Passengers with a connecting Air France/KLM flight ticket can travel for free by KLM bus to and from Schiphol. Request your boarding pass online or through your travel agent at least 24 hours before departure.
    • International connections with IC and Flixbus to various locations in Europe..
      • FlixBus mobility provider operates bus services from Maastricht to many (international) destinations such as Amsterdam, Brussels, Dortmund, London, Paris, Luxembourg, Prague, Berlin, Warschau, Sarajevo and Bucharest.
      • IC bus to Luik and Düsseldorf. 

  • You have a few options. Check in and out with your OV-chipkaart, or use OVpay: hold your contactless debit card, credit card or phone against the card reader, just like paying in a shop. Travelling with a debit card works exactly the same way as with the OV-chipkaart, and you don't need to register anything in advance. Just make sure you use the same card to check in and out. You can also travel with the glimble app, or buy a ticket from the driver.

  • Are you staying overnight in Vaals, Gulpen-Wittem or Valkenburg aan de Geul this summer? Then you travel free by bus and train outside peak hours. This is possible thanks to the Gast Vrij OV campaign.

    You receive a voucher code through your accommodation. With this code, you can travel freely on regional public transport with Arriva throughout South Limburg.

    The pilot runs from 13 July through October 2026. Afterwards, the parties involved will evaluate the results. They will look into whether Gast Vrij OV can grow into a permanent offer for overnight tourists throughout South Limburg.
    Gast Vrij OV is a collaboration between the Province of Limburg, Arriva, the participating municipalities and local businesses.
