A2-N2 tunnel | Night-time closure May

Tunnel maintenance – Koning Willem-Alexander Tunnel

In May, the Koning Willem-Alexander tunnel will undergo regular maintenance. The tunnel tubes will be closed for two nights. On the first night, the A2 tunnel is closed. On the second night, the N2 tunnel is closed.

Please note: on both nights, all tunnel tubes are closed at the same time between 00:00 and 06:00. You cannot drive through the tunnel then. Several on- and off-ramps are also closed. Please follow the diversion signs.

Night 1: Wednesday 12 May 21:00 to Thursday 13 May 06:00

• 21:00 to 00:00: the A2 tunnel is closed in both directions. You drive through the N2 tunnel. All on- and off-ramps are open.
• 00:00 to 06:00: both the A2 and the N2 tunnels are closed. The on- and off-ramps listed below are also closed. Follow the diversions.

Night 2: Thursday 13 May 21:00 to Friday 14 May 06:00

• 21:00 to 00:00: the N2 tunnel is closed in both directions. The on- and off-ramps listed below are also closed. Through traffic uses the A2 tunnel.
• 00:00 to 06:00: both the A2 and the N2 tunnels are closed. The on- and off-ramps stay closed. Follow the diversions.

Which on- and off-ramps are closed?

These are closed on both nights between 00:00 and 06:00. On night 2, they are already closed from 21:00.

• Exit 53 (Berg en Terblijt / Maastricht-Centrum Noord)
• Exit 54 (Cadier en Keer / Hasselt / Maastricht-Centrum Zuid)
• On-ramp from John F. Kennedysingel towards Centrum-Noord / Berg en Terblijt (exit 53) and A2/A79
• On-ramp from Viaductweg towards N2 / Centrum-Zuid / Cadier en Keer (exit 54) and A2

Diversions

These diversions apply when the on- and off-ramps are closed.

• From Viaductweg/Noorderbrug to Liège: Terblijterweg, Vijverdalseweg, Akersteenweg, on-ramp John F. Kennedysingel towards Liège.
• From the north (A2 Eindhoven / A79 Heerlen) to Maastricht-Centrum Zuid or Cadier en Keer: through the A2 tunnel, exit 55 Randwyck, turn around, on-ramp 55 Randwyck, exit 54 Maastricht-Centrum Zuid / Cadier en Keer.
• From Liège to Maastricht-Centrum Noord or Berg en Terblijt: A2, A79, exit 1 Bunde, Nieuwe Limmelderweg, on-ramp N2 towards Maastricht/Liège, exit 53 Maastricht-Centrum Noord / Berg en Terblijt.
• From John F. Kennedysingel to the north (A2 Eindhoven / A79 Heerlen): Akersteenweg, Vijverdalseweg, Terblijterweg, A2.
