On Monday 1 October, the members of the municipality of Maastricht’s Civil Enforcement Team started removing bicycles that were incorrectly parked at Maastricht’s Stationsplein to the depot at Sint Gerardusweg 39 in Maastricht. This campaign follows the ‘Parked just right?’ campaign that was rolled out in the summer. We discussed the first week of this campaign with Rick van den Boorn – coordinator of the removal activities in addition to his duties as a civil enforcement officer.

In September, bicycle coaches have been active on Stationsplein, Stationsstraat, Wyckerbrugstraat, and Rechtstraat to tell people about the underground parking facility and other parking facilities in Wyck. At the same time, the municipality has been carrying out a clean-up operation and removed all abandoned bicycles. And the results are plain to see: Stationsplein is emptier, and more people are using the underground bicycle-parking facility.
