Railway maintenance in the South Limburg region

In September and October, maintenance work will be conducted on the railway tracks at a number of locations. If you often travel by train, then please bear in mind that your journey may take longer and that replacement transport by bus may apply. People who travel by car must also take potential road closures into account. Below is an explanation of the maintenance works and what consequences they may have for your journey by train or by car.

28-29 September: Sittard – Maastricht Randwyck route

On Saturday 28 September and Sunday 29 September, no NS or Arriva trains will travel between Sittard and Maastricht Randwyck. During the weekend, you can make use of replacement bus services: the Arriva stopping buses between Sittard and Maastricht, and the NS express buses travelling the same route. Other trains (RS18 and NMBS) will still be running between Maastricht and Maastricht Randwyck. City buses will also travel their regular routes between Maastricht and Maastricht Randwyck.
A number of railway crossings will be closed to all traffic during this time. Please follow the yellow diversion signs.

7-25 October: closure of Weert railway crossing at Mariënwaard/Vaeshartelt

From 7 to 25 October, the Weert railway crossing between Mariënwaard and Vaeshartelt will be closed to all traffic. Local traffic to and from Vaeshartelt and Weert will be diverted via Mariënwaard, Maastrichterweg, and Fregatweg. Please follow the yellow diversion signs.

11-20 October: Heerlen – Maastricht Randwyck route

Due to maintenance on the railway tracks between Heerlen and Maastricht Randwyck, no trains will be able to travel on this route from Saturday 12 October to Sunday 20 October. Passengers will be able to make use of Arriva's replacement bus services for the stopping trains and express trains between Heerlen and Maastricht. A shuttle bus will travel on the route between Valkenburg, Klimmen, Ransdaal, and Schin op Geul. Passengers will be able to make use of the stopping train between Maastricht and Maastricht Randwyck (Arriva Line RS12 between Roermond and Maastricht Randwyck or the NMBS service) or the city buses which will also travel their regular routes. If you plan to travel during this period, please take into account that railway crossings may be closed to through traffic. You should follow the yellow diversion signs.
