Weekend closure of Franciscus Romanusweg between Borgharenweg and Viaductweg
From 8 PM on 17 February to midnight on 20 February, the project for the route of the Noorderbrug will be carrying out works at the Franciscus Romanusweg and Borgharenweg junction. Throughout this weekend, the Franciscus Romanusweg will be closed to all traffic between Borgharenweg and Viaductweg. However, you will be able to access shops, offices and businesses, and De Griend car park by following the diversions.
The closure is part of preparations for the works that are required from spring onwards for the redevelopment of the junction at the fire station. Borgharenweg will be closed to traffic once more following the weekend closure.
- Road traffic from Noorderbrug and Viaductweg to Franciscus Romanusweg and vice versa will be diverted via Willem Alexanderweg, Balijeweg, and Borgharenweg.
- Moped users, cyclists, and pedestrians will be diverted via the new lanes at Oost junction, to the north of Viaductweg, to and from Borgharenweg and Willem Alexanderweg.
- François de Veijestraat will be open to traffic during the day
Accessibility of car park and shops
The Q-park parking facility at De Griend as well as the shops along Franciscus Romanusweg and François de Veijestraat can still be accessed by following the diversions indicated on the yellow signs.
Following the weekend closure, Borgharenweg will be closed to traffic once again until 20 March for the final roadworks. After that, Franciscus Romanusweg between Borgharenweg and Viaductweg will be closed to all traffic from the beginning of March for two months. Motorists, moped users, cyclists, and pedestrians will then have to follow a diversion via the new lanes within the Trega company premises. We’ll keep you posted!
