Construction works Terblijterweg from July to October 2014
Upon the commission from Maastricht council, the Terblijterweg will be changed this autumn. The roundabout will be replaced by traffic lights and the road will be widened. According to current plans the construction works will last until the end of October 2014.
The preparatory construction works begun at the end of July this year. The bus stops along the Olympiaweg have been moved and foundation works are being carried out at the roadside.
Installation of traffic lights
After the preparation works have been completed, the roundabout will be removed and traffic lights will be installed. Seeing the importance of the Terblijterweg as a crucial east-west connection, these works are being carried out in coordination with the other construction works in the surrounding areas. The removal of the roundabout will commence only when the Scharnerwegbrug, another important east-west conncection, has been reopend.
Travellers should be prepared for delays when the roundabout is being removed and the traffic lights are being installed, estimated to be carried out in the autumn of 2014.
Coordination with A2 tunnel works
The works at the A2 tunnel are in full swing in the surrounding areas of the Terblijterweg. Maastricht council and Avenue2 are coordinating the construction works in order to provide a good flow of traffic and accessibility of businesses and homes.
