Markets in Maastricht to reopen

The Municipality of Maastricht has announced that markets in Maastricht can be fully reopened. The first markets to reopen are the Wednesday market on 20 May and the Saturday and Sunday markets on 23 and 24 May. The Friday market will reopen at a later date.

Friday market to reopen by Friday 29 May at the latest

Because of its size, the Friday market will be divided over Markt and Vrijthof squares. The café terraces will be reopened in June. The layout of the Friday market depends on the layout of the café terraces and the pedestrian plan that applies to the entire city centre, including Vrijthof square. The municipality of Maastricht has announced that the Friday market will reopen no later than Friday 29 May.

Keep your distance and avoid crowds.

The markets will open in compliance with the measures set out by the Netherlands' National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). This means that the market stalls must be widely spaced apart, and people must agree to keep enough distance from one another. As a visitor, keep your distance and avoid crowds.
