Paid parking and parking for permit holders
Large areas of Maastricht fall under paid parking zones or parking only for permit holders. These area are divided between the A-zone (city centre A1 and A2) and the B-zone (outside the ring road). Do you live in an area where the parking must be paid for, or in a permit-only zone? You may qualify for a parking permit. In the areas where there is paid parking you can pay by mobile phone or smartphone.
Paid parking times
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday: 08:00 - 18:00
- Thursday: 08.00 - 21.00 hours
- Sunday: 12.00 - 18.00 hours
Parking costs streetparking
The parking meters in Maastricht work with a license plate system in which foreign license plates can also be entered. It is therefore no longer necessary to place a parking ticket behind your windscreen. Think carefully about how long you want to park for. Street parking is subject to a maximum parking time that cannot be extended by paying again.
The rate for streetparking depends on the parking zone you are parking in: high rate € 3.00 per hour (mainly in the A-zone), low rate € 1.50 per hour (mainly in the B-zone), a dayticket costs € 6.80 excluding locations with parking duration restrictions.
Paid parking during late night shopping and holidays
During late night shopping (until 21:00) and on sunday (12:00-18:00) paid parking remains in force in the areas that normally charge during the week. On public holidays when the shops are closed, you do not have to pay when you park on the street, but you do have to park if you use a Q-Park parking location.
Paid parking applies on additional late shopping evenings in December. Navigate to www.maastrichtbereikbaar.nl/agenda on our website to see the applicable late shopping evenings that apply for each holiday as well as opening hours of shops on other holidays.
Disabled parking spaces
There are disabled parking spaces in the city's various multistorey car parks and paid parking facilities.
You can park for free in designated disabled parking spaces in the street without restriction.
Please note that this exemption does not apply to permit holders' spaces, disabled parking spaces for a specific license plate and in multistorey car parks. You must pay the regular hourly or daily rate in multistorey car parks.
Holders of a disability card do not have to pay to park in the general disabled parking spaces and in paid on-street parking spaces in Maastricht. The disability card allows holders to park for free for three hours upon display of a blue parking disc.
On the site Locaties Ongehinderd (in Dutch) you will find public disabled parking spaces throughout Maastricht.

Pay-by-phone parking is available for on and off-street parking in Maastricht. It’s a secure, quick and efficient way to pay for parking using your mobile telephone.
