How does the barometer work?
Some days the Maastricht city centre is quiet, other days it's pleasantly busy, and sometimes the city is crowded with visitors. These are what we call peak days. The extra visitors often result in extra traffic problems. The busiest hours are between 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon and between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
The barometer shows how busy you can expect the city to be each day.
The peak days are based on experiences from previous years. Most of the time the peak days are the result of a national holiday in Belgium, Germany, and/or the Netherlands, sometimes in combination with special events in the city centre.
